Humane Education involves teaching people of all ages that animals, both domestic and wild, require care, protection and understanding. Key focuses of Humane Education programs are accepting that pets have feelings and needs as we do, respect for all forms of life, proper pet care and the responsibilities of pet ownership.
Humane education is about interconnectedness: our relationship with friends, neighbors, children, the elderly, the disenfranchised, native peoples, forests, rivers, animals, all to whom we are connected in the web of life.
Humane education attempts to challenge the negative trends of violence, dispassion, apathy, greed by actively promoting compassion, and respect for self and others. Humane education is taught in elementary schools through high school. Currently, we have an active program directed at first through third grades at a large school district in Southern California. We are seeking support to expand Humane Education activities to other school districts. To order a Humane Education program for your organization, click here. It should be noted that for most locations outside of the immediate Southern California area, multiple school participation will be necessary to make to program affordable.
